A Tribute to Joe Ely With The Flatlanders and Friends
From the moment he made his debut in the 1970s, Joe Ely blended rock-and-roll sensibilities with hardcore honky tonk, and became one of the most recognizable and respected artists to hail from the Lone Star state. Joe’s legacy with Hardly Strictly Bluegrass reaches back to our own origins, and he graced our stages as a solo artist, with the Flatlanders, collaborating with Los Super Seven and Calexico, and as part of Guy Clark’s legendary guitar pulls. It only seemed fitting when Joe passed earlier this year that his friends would want to pay tribute in grand fashion, and that this would take place on the hallowed grounds of Golden Gate Park. Join us as we honor a true Americana pioneer with The Flatlanders & Friends featuring Jimmie Dale Gilmore & Butch Hancock.
