Steve Poltz

Steve Poltz’s fan base includes fellow musicians, regular folks, and festival-goers who stumble onto his performances. Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia and raised in San Diego, California, Steve toured and recorded with San Diego cult favorites The Rugburns before embarking on a creative partnership with Jewel that produced her multiplatinum hit “You Were Meant for Me.” He’s collaborated with many other artists including Billy Strings, Molly Tuttle, and Sierra Hull, in addition to releasing numerous solo albums. Of his latest, JoyRide, he says, “Capturing me in a studio is like convincing a whirling dervish to stop spinning long enough to sign a bill into law. It’s chaos, caffeine, and accidental poetry—art colliding with microphones and commerce in a glorious mess. That’s how JoyRide happened. No seatbelts, no helmets. Just unsaturated, unadulterated art. Real humans making real noise in real time.”
